The Prime Ministers Economic Advisory Council has been set up with a view to providing a sounding board for inculcating awareness in Government on the different points of view on key economic issues. It would also help in sharing perceptions of policy changes regarding issues of immediate and long-term concern. The Council includes the following economists who have recognised international eminence :
The first meeting of the Council has been held on 15.10.1998 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. The material relating to this Council has been placed on the Internet with a view to disseminating information about the working of the Council, and encouraging a healthy and enlightened public debate on important economic issues. |
